SOOC Saturday : Slowing down

A walking to-do list,  I am , these days

Always rushing to get more done faster

I glance at my watch frequently,

Relieved that I have a little bit ahead or

Panicked that I am behind

I set timers

All my appointments on Outlook  at work ping their warnings on cue.

I even have a timer set( on my phone)  to write this post

And so my days go by

To that persistent rhythm of time

I think of time... all the time

Tick tock

Tick tock

But then there is my child

Who makes me pause

Creates these oasis in my days ..

Where we do what we want to do

One of the best things that a Floortime Lifestyle has done for us really- is that it has legitimized  "chasing butterflies" as my friend Tanya calls it

The other day we went outside into the gorgeous Spring day and did songs  with things from nature

Somehow the time felt slower, more gracious , more leisurely

Here is a picture of him singing 5-6 pick up sticks

With him , I reset the tick tock background music into a  differerent song

Reser it to an old favorite

Got no deeds to do,
No promises to keep.
I’m dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep.
Let the morning time drop all its petals on me.
Life, I love you,
All is groovy.

Darling. Just darling. I love that he sings. (It's one thing I feel most robbed of). It is heartmelting that he can create that little moment in picking up sticks - and that you capture it with such appreciation!

Time, It is amazing that you would TAKE the TIME to,
post about it..... LOL

I'm So happy that you did, great perspective K....

As always you keep it real....

A.W. Tozer quoted in his book.
God's Pursuit of Man: "The man who would know God must give time to Him." He must count no TIME wasted which is spent in the cultivation of His acquaintance.

I believe you captured a Godly moment in your picture. :o)

Have a GREAT weekend...

I love that he is your gentle reminder to slow down. My kids do the same for me. I constantly find a list running in my head and I have to remember my kids don't care about clean clothes or the dishwasher being unloaded they just want me. Great Post!

Oh, that is such a darling picture of him...it's wonderful that he is singing!!

I remember when I worked full time when my big girls were involved in so much including after-school activities. I felt sometimes like I were drowning...I felt like I had no down time. I don't envy you a second. I'm glad you can slow down and enjoy the ....now.

Slowing down is always a good thing. Sometimes it seems like our kids teach us more than we teach them.

A beautiful and timely reminder for me to find ways to slow down...both WITh and w/out my own son. Wishing you a weekend full of peace and grace.

Your little man is adorable. I hear that "tick tock" all the time too and my kids help me to remember to slow down and mute it just about every day.

Oh, how glad I am that time is relevant and totally ununderstandable. So TIIIIIcccck Toooooccccck can work just as well on the right occasions.

It's so hard to slow down and just enjoy life; I never feel like I have DONE enough. Thank you for the reminder.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love that picture of your son--what a handsome little guy! I will have to come back and read more. I have a nephew that is pretty clearly autistic but his mother refuses to have him evaluated, believing that nothing is wrong. :( The reminder to slow down and appreciate the moment is appreciated!

I adore the photo. Adore it.

What a cutie. I love when our children remind us to slow down and live in the moment...My 11 year old was outside blowing bubbles and playing with the cat the other day and I just had to stop and enjoy the moment. Thanks for visiting my blog.
